6:32AM - scratching at the door....

10:01PM - A VERY interesting article I just read on Yahoo....

Two investigative reporters for Time Magazine,  MASSIMO CALABRESI AND MICHAEL WEISSKOPF, wrote an article I just read on Yahoo. I'm sure it will be in the next Time Magazine or more likely on Time's webpage. The article is entitled "Legacy Fight: Inside Bush and Cheney's Tense Final Days".

Give it a read. Start a conversation if you think you would like.

I would like to wish my husband, Kenn(cubbybear48), and our very good friend Richard (bigdaddy5) a most sincere Happy Birthday!

I wonder if they will have their candles blown out tonight?

6:57AM

Kenn and I are in the process of starting some rather major (ok, I'll call it major) yard renovations. There's a multi-faceted project list we have in mind and will tackle it one at a time. First is the new flower beds for the sides of the house. The garage side of the house has had the grass removed after many days of shoveling.

side of garage with last of grass to be removed

Each of the corners will be rounded off and will have trees planted. The ground has a boat load of shale in it, so it is NOT easy to dig out. The length of the bed will contain various shrubs, of which we are still deciding on. The one tree that will go on the front corner will be a Japanese Maple version since our shutters and front door are burgundy colored.

Yes, Kenn has a tomato plant growing to see how well it does on this side of the house and in this soil condition. The house is over 30 foot deep, so it was NO easy task to dig up!

As we progress with the project, I will post pics. I'll keep a running list of photos on Facebook as the project continues on.

4:44PM - For what it is worth, I am pleased....

I got an email from Equality California (signed up for their newsletters when I was staying out in California last summer) saying the following:

Tonight, California Attorney General Jerry Brown filed a brief in support of the federal lawsuit seeking to overturn Proposition 8 and restore marriage equality to California.

In stark contrast to President Obama's Justice Department filing a brief defending the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act, California's Attorney General Jerry Brown today filed a brief in support of a federal challenge to Proposition 8.

7:25AM - is ready (I think) to start the week...

I had a very productive, and exhausting, weekend. I'm happily tired. We stimulated the economy by making some home purchases at Homo Depot  (new light fixtures for eat in kitchen area and foyer (job for electrician for sure since it's 17 foot up)). Yard work was continued and will continue this week. Bear Happy Hour was slow to start but turned out to be a very good night. Stevil's house is beyond words to describe. After a productive board meeting on Sunday followed by some slot time at the casino, it was time to wind down at home before going to bed.

All in all, a very good weekend.

10:38PM - feeling kind of melancholy

I'm feeling kind of let down right now. Sometimes things don't go exactly as you plan. Ok, I know I am definitely not alone on this one for sure. There are a boat load of folks that are in much worse shape than I am out there. I'm just kind of  not feeling good right now . Maybe it's me still trying to get back into the swing of things from coming back from vacation. Maybe it's something else. Maybe.

I hope the weekend will help shake it off cause I don't like feeling like this at all.

Current mood: disappointed

5:12PM - A mixed bag of things happened today

The day started off by dropping Kenn off at the airport at 7 am this morning. He's going to be in Tampa for the week. So, the day started off on a sad note for me. Once I dropped Kenn off, I proceeded east on the turnpike to NJ to visit my mom for Mother's day. I knew I was going to be way early (she was on a mini vacation with her sister in Ocean City Maryland and was scheduled to drive home this morning) so I stopped off and got my car washed. It was well overdue and a little present to myself in getting it done.

So, a few hours later, I was in NJ at my mom's house. It turns out that there was a bit of excitement at the hotel down in Md. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Needless to say the guests were evacuated for a bit of time and a lot of lost sleep time. By the time I got to my mom's house, she was just leaving Md. That trip was going to take them a few (3+) hours without stopping. I decided to hang out with the neices/nephews for a bit and then head home. All the while, I was getting text messages on Kenn's status in his travels. Turns out he's in a hotel room that overlooks the gulf and the pool. And, it's 90 degrees down there. Can you say a replay of Myrtle Beach weather? LOL! I left her Mother's day card and obligatory flower arrangement at her house for her when she finally gets home.

So, I'm home from 5 hours of total commute in the car, watching TV and relaxing. I saw Pink Floyd's The Wall and SpiderMan. My only solice regarding not having someone around this week is that I know there's someone here in the house that misses Kenn just as much as I do. He's calling out for his Pappy, often. If my cell phone rings, he immediately thinks it's his Pappy.

6:48AM - I need!

to go back to Myrtle Beach for some sun, sand, drinking and SEX!

Not necessarily in that order.

That's all.

5:16PM - Going to South Carolina

Myrtle Beach, here we come! Bear Hunt is happening this weekend. The husband and I are heading down early to get some vacation time in before the weekend festivities. We need to get away from the house for a bit and no better time than the present!

9:25PM - This is just too funny not to post.

It's only 2 minutes long. I am wondering who the artist/group is that does this song. It's definitely catchy.

10:22AM - Montezuma's revenge is finally over with..

Ok, at least that's what my mom used to call it. It's known as the stomach virus to everyone else. I'm finally getting over it. Off today for the second day from work to recover. Yesterday was a disaster and I would not like to revisit it anytime soon.

At least weather wise it's going to be a beautiful day here in South Central PA! Horray for small things! LOL!

6:59AM - when my morning routine is messed with....

I am not a very nice person to be around. I'm not exactly sure why I act the way I do, but it always happens when I'm trying to get into the kitchen and someone else gets in there and starts to take over things like the oven, the microwave, the toaster, etc, while I'm starting to set up for my meal.

It happened this morning. I got up in an OK mood. My partner was already up and out of bed (which makes me sad that someone didn't even give me a kiss this morning before getting out of bed) so I robed up and proceeded downstairs to get coffee started. This morning I was hungrier than normal so I was all set to pop some frozen waffles in the toaster and have something to eat.

Nope.

A member of the household other than my partner came in as I was setting up my coffee and proceeded to start to make his 3 course breakfast. He typically is NOT up at this time of the morning, so that threw me off. What probably pissed me off the most was the fact that he didn't ask if I needed to get something made before he started. He just went to town and pretty much "c blocked" the kitchen. Ok, that's how I interpreted it. It may not have been exactly that way to another person watching it but that's how it felt to me. I felt like I was removed from any opportunity to get anything made other than coffee (which he doesn't drink). So, I sat in the family room and waited, and waited, and waited.

20 minutes later, he was out of the kitchen. I was then able to get to my coffee and get up to shower. No breakfast at home for me. Looks like drive-thru is in order.

I am NOT a morning person, especially if I am tired more than usual (which was the case this morning). Couple that with the perception that I can't get to the things that I need to get to in order for me to get out the door to get to work and you have one pissed off Rich. When I'm that pissed, the only thing that will cure me of my funk mood is sex. And, that wasn't happening this morning (someone was leaving to go to work earlier than normal). So, I was totally out of luck.

SOOOOO, instead of making breakfast now, I'm typing this. It's kind of therapy in a way as I hold things in. I get to vent in my solitute and try and release some of the anger and frustration before getting to work. It does help that I have a 40 minute commute to work that I get to listen to Sirius OutQ and relax before I start my work day.

Ok, rant and rave over. Off to Mc D's for a Sausage McSkillett Buritto.

At least I have the grandson walking around this morning to make my day a bit brighter. :)

9:33PM - "Look German"

I was told today by a supervisor at work that I look "very German" with my new glasses.

I'm not quite sure how to take that. I'm part German already.

10:34AM - Monthly Bear Happy Hour

Even with several events going on at the same time, the Harrisburg Bear Happy Hour appeared to be another success. The bar's owner, Karen, appeared a bit nervous earlier on in the evening, mainly due to the fact that she prepares a TON of food for her bear patrons.

All for free.

She made even more than usual last night, but from what I saw before we left last night, it appeared that the food was being consumed quite steadily. Couple that with patrons buying drinks at a regular pace, it makes for quite a financial success for her establishment every month. She's pleased and we are as well.

Yea for a great monthly gatering!
